WED 27 Sep: Expats movie night 📽️🎞️🍿@ Rialto VU

Once a month, together with the cooperation of Rialto, we are happy to announce EXPATS MOVIE NIGHT: an event to get together with other internationals and watch recent foreign language films with English subtitles at the Rialto cinema

There will be a reserved area for the AIC group where gathering before the movie. Ask at the entrance where the meeting point is.

After the movie, we will move to Bar Boele to have some drinks and network. 

WHERE📍: The meetings are at Rialto VU: a brand new innovative film theatre at the VU Campus. The host Karolina will be there beforehand and afterward to meet and greet and have a few drinks.

WHEN: Wednesday 27, September. We meet from 18:30 in the AIC area and then the movie starts at 19:00.

THE MOVIE🎥: Dutch satiric drama SWEET DREAMS.

🎬 SWEET DREAMS: Dutch East Indies, circa 1900: On a remote Indonesian island, during the final days of the colonial era, Dutch sugar manufacturer Jan suddenly drops dead in front of his wife Agathe. Their estranged son and his heavily pregnant wife arrive from the Netherlands to take over the family business. To everyone's dismay, Jan's mistress turns out to play a key role in his will. Amid an uprising of Indonesian workers, a cat-and-mouse game begins from which no one will emerge in one piece.

Director and screenwriter Ena Sendijarević (Take Me Somewhere Nice) combines ruthless satire and lavish beauty in this tale of the demise of European colonialism. Sweet Dreams is the opening film of the Netherlands Film Festival.
